Yogendra Sharma meets UP Minister Aseem Arun to discuss the promotion of Nunchaku Sports

On 16th May 2025, a significant step was taken towards the growth and recognition of Nunchaku Sports in Uttar Pradesh, as Mr. Yogendra Kumar Sharma, General Secretary of the Nunchaku Association of Uttar Pradesh (affiliated with the Nunchaku Association of India), met with the Hon’ble Minister of Social Welfare, Uttar Pradesh, MLA from Kannauj Sadar, and former Police Commissioner, Shri Aseem Arun ji, at his office in Kannauj.
The purpose of the meeting was to introduce and promote the modern, sport-oriented version of Nunchaku—a safe, skill-based martial art adapted for competitive practice. Mr. Sharma highlighted how the evolved design of Nunchaku eliminates the risks associated with traditional steel and wooden models, making it suitable for players of all age groups.
Shri Aseem Arun ji showed great interest in this modern version of Nunchaku. He acknowledged its potential as a disciplined, injury-safe martial art, especially valuable for today’s youth. He also expressed his appreciation for the initiative and assured continued support, including a commitment to further discussions regarding its inclusion and growth at the state level.
This meeting reflects the growing recognition of Nunchaku as a legitimate and progressive sport in India. With leaders like Shri Aseem Arun ji showing interest, the path ahead looks promising for martial artists and enthusiasts across the state.
